Ridwan Ariesta excels in Men’s Singles qualifying round of 2012 Djarum Sirnas Flypower Banten Open

Indonesia’s budding shuttler Ridwan Ariesta played with great precision and cleared first stage of Men’s Singles qualifying round in Djarum Sirnas Flypower Banten Open on October 16, 2012.

He cast out Travis Moniaga by registering 21-15, 16-21 and 21-17 score after an exhausting exercise of 40 minutes.

Ridwan Ariesta, who plays for Pertamina Indonesia badminton club, ruled the court in opening and closing segments of the showdown where as the opposing shuttler could pocket only the second match point.

The battle heated up straight away in the beginning as Ridwan unleashed a series of power packed strokes and bagged many valuable points in a row.

He did not lose this rhythm in next couple of rallies and strengthened his grip over the game. He mounted pressure by putting a mountainous total of 7 and then doubled the impact with an indomitable margin of 11 before the interval.

After the one-minute break, Ridwan made a swift progress and widened the gap with few successive points.

He played with similar conviction in the third quarter of the set and swept the table with a significant figure of 21-15.

The second set was replay of previous one but in reverse manner as this time Travis Moniaga showed a transformed character and stunned his opponent with an impressive knock.

Men’s Singles campaigner of Candra Wijaya badminton club Travis made his intention clear by dominating the overall pace of the establishing rallies and made best out of this psychological edge in later part of the game.

He made difference by placing a respectable score of 11 before half time and then left his challenger far behind with a notable lead in final result of 21-16.

Third set became crucial with this twist and both contenders were in high spirits to surpass their competitor. They challenged each other in all areas of the game and remained close on points table.     

However, Ridwan showed elevated craft when it mattered and locked the honour in a splendid manner.

He maintained a three-point advantage until last shot was played and sealed a splendid display by registering a decisive margin of 21-17.
