2012 Denmark Open: Tontowi Ahmad, Liliyana Natsir secure a pre quarter-final berth

2012 Denmark Open: Tontowi Ahmad, Liliyana Natsir secure a pre quarter-final berth

Mixed Doubles experts Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir employed all of their brilliance in the game and overpowered Ronan Labar-Laura Choinet to reserve their right to be in the pre quarter-finals of Yonex Denmark Open on October 16, 2012.

World Number four Indonesian pair took just 21 minutes to seal a straight-set victory with an impressive result of 21-9 and 21-10.

Tontowi and Liliyana was a real feast for the eyes as they entertained the local crowd with a mesmerising show of badminton skills in Odense, Denmark.

They looked at top of their game in most part of the match and their emphatic start has alarmed all the contestants of this Premier Super Series.

On the other hand, the opposing shuttlers were subjected to a tough trial and they failed to rise on their toes.

Ronan and Laura stayed at the lower end throughout this showdown and ultimately crashed out of the event in a disgraceful manner.

First sign of trouble came for the French campaigners when their higher rivals unleashed a flurry of power packed strokes straight away in the beginning of the first set. They could not withstand this intensive invasion and surrendered tamely.

The Indonesian players made best out of this situation and finished the opening game with a huge difference of 12 points.

Tontowi and Liliyana established an indomitable lead with 7-3 total and then doubled the impact by putting a mountainous figure of 11 before the interval.

They showed no mercy in later part of the game and pushed their challengers on the back-foot by prevailing in six uninterrupted rallies.

They kept on playing with an authoritative approach and blew their competitors away with a striking knock of 21-9.

The second set was just a replay of previous one as Tontowi-Liliyana played with similar conviction and locked the honour in a commendable manner.

This time they put their badminton skills to the test by keeping a low profile in the beginning and then served notice of their supremacy with an overwhelming score of 21-10.

Now they are scheduled to meet the local team of Mads Pieler Kolding-Kamilla Rytter Juhl and a win will take them into quarter-finals of the tournament.
