Ben Torrance beats Josh Neil in Men’s Singles final at Scottish National Junior Championships

Scotland’s talented shuttler Ben Torrance proved his elite class on court and won the Men’s Singles title after defeating his lower ranked team-mate Josh Neil in the final battle at the 2012 Scottish National Junior Championships U19 in Scotland, on Sunday, October 14.

The in-form Torrance, who was the top seeded player in the main draw of the tournament, showed a remarkable performance in all of his matches and remained successful in winning the title in a spectacular fashion.

Torrance struggled hard to find a good flow in the first game but failed to stop the progress of his rival.

However, the in-form Torrance put up superb demonstration of top class badminton in the following sets and managed to win the match in three sets by taking 39 minutes on court.

In the meanwhile, the second seeded Neil could entertained the crowd by playing dominating badminton in the first game but failed to stay in commanding position as he lost his control and eventually lost the match with a decent margin on board.

The opening set was shocking for the top seeded Torrance who failed to cope up with the incredible speed of his rival and remained struggling until the end of first half.

After the one-minute break, Torrance tried his best to put up strong show but failed to find a good rhythm and eventually lost the game with a 15-21 score on the board.

In the following set, Torrance was on a different level as he showed a great performance on court and took a huge lead until the one-minute break.

After the mid-game interval, Torrance continued showing his elite skills by controlling the pace of rallies and remained successful in taking the second set with a stunning 21-11 score on the board.

In the deciding set, Torrance continued his steely performance on court without showing any mercy to his rival and remained successful in grabbing the game with a remarkable 21-10 score on the board.

The impressive Torrance emerged as the winner in this Men’s Singles final battle with an interesting margin of 15-21, 21-11 and 21-10.
