2012 Denmark Open: Lee Chong Wei trounces Jan O Jorgensen in Men’s Singles semi-final round

Malaysia’s ace shuttler Lee Chong Wei continued his unbeatable run in Yonex Denmark Open and cast out Jan O Jorgensen in the semi-final round on Saturday, October 20, 2012.

This Men’s Singles encounter was staged at local badminton arena of Odense, Denmark and a huge crowd was there to support the native shuttler against the maestro.

However, Chong Wei proved himself an ultimate survivor and wrapped the showdown in just two games with a favourable result of 22-20 and 21-15.

Both contenders remained head-to-head for 45 minutes and their honest effort earned great deal of admiration and respect.

World Number one Chong Wei struggled a bit in the beginning but he did not take much time to come out of this bad patch and locked the honour in a splendid manner.

The Malaysian badminton king kick-started his campaign with couple of productive rallies and gained an early advantage but then a few back-to-back mistakes brought him down.

He let five valuable points slip from his hands and allowed the opposing shuttler to establish a decent lead with 7-4 margin.

Jan O Jorgensen did not miss this opportunity and raised his chances by remaining ahead of his rival on the points table.

The Danish campaigner matched his higher ranked competitor’s skills and stayed equal until game point situation.

Both contenders were locked in a tough competition with 20-20 total but Chong Wei showed better finishing skills and claimed first match point with a winning figure of 22-20.

Unexpectedly, the second set proved a one-sided affair as the Malaysian maestro did not spare any loop-hole and completely dominated overall pace of the rallies.

Though, Chong Wei was bit sluggish in the beginning as he lost few vital points in a row but he moved swiftly across the court in later part of the game and tipped the scale in his favour.

He started the beating after 3-6 and finished first half of the set with a respectable score position of 11. He did not lose focus and strengthened his grip by registering 16-9 total in third quarter of the set.

Chong Wei sealed a straight-set victory with 21-15 margin and qualified for the title match where he will be up against Du Pengyu of China.
