Du Pengyu sends Marc Zwiebler packing in Men’s Singles second round at Yonex Denmark Open

China’s Du Pengyu continued his positive and winning run and reserved his berth in Men’s Singles quarter-final after thrashing Germany’s Marc Zwiebler in second round encounter at Yonex Denmark Open Premier Super Series 2012 on Thursday, October 18, at Odense, Denmark.

The World Number Nine Pengyu, who has been positioned at number seven in Men’s Singles main draw of the tournament, showed a good performance and remained successful in winning the battle in straight games with a decent margin.

Pengyu made his fans happy by remaining consistent on court and he played with greater level of confidence which helped him to send his German rival packing in straight sets by taking 53 minutes on court.

In the meanwhile, the lower ranked Zwiebler also displayed his staggering skills in the first game and proved a tough nut to crack for his Chinese opponent but remained unlucky in the ending points and lost the set with a decent margin.

Zwiebler could not produce better form in the second game and eventually went down to Pengyu without taking any set.

It was one of the most interesting battles of the day when both participants put up wonderful show of attacking badminton and snapped each other’s heel all the way until the end of opening half while remaining close on score board.

In the concluding half of first game, both players tried their best to show a strong performance and managed to stay equal until the score reached at 20-20.

At this crucial stage, Pengyu played with wonderful control and manipulated the loopholes of his rival to grab the ending points and he won the set with a 22-20 score on the board.

In the following set, both players again locked horns and remained consistent in their positive play without showing any mercy to each other.

However, it was Pengyu who took over the control towards the end of opening half and maintained a reasonable gap on score board all the way to win the set with a difference of 21-17.

Pengyu won this Men’s Singles contest against Zwiebler in straight games with a superb 22-20 and 21-17 margin on score board.
