Mads Pieler Kolding, Kamilla Rytter Juhl gain access to pre quarter-finals of 2012 Denmark Open

Mixed Doubles shuttlers Mads Pieler Kolding and Kamilla Rytter Juhl had a dream start in Yonex Denmark Open as they cleared first hurdle on Tuesday, October 16, 2012.

They stamped Michael Fuchs-Birgit Michels in the opening match and the final result of 21-18, 17-21 and 21-17 was proof of their dominance in this 53-minute tussle.

This opening round match was played at local badminton complex of Odense, Denmark and the local shuttlers made the best out of this psychological edge.

Mads Pieler and Kamilla Rytter, who were underrated earlier in this tournament, survived this hard fought battle by showing superb coordination.

They laid the foundation of their supremacy by clinching the opening match point with distinction. They were a bit slow in the beginning but then couple of productive rallies provided them the required momentum.

In first half of the set, the Dutch campaigners played cautiously and allowed their rivals to pile up a notable margin of 11 but they counter-balanced the situation immediately after the mid-game break.

They started the beating after 11-13 and reached to a respectable score position of 18-14 in no time. This decent lead helped them to place a winning margin of 21-18.

However, it was not an easy matter in the following game as Michael-Birgit switched on the best after getting one down and managed to avoid a straight-set defeat.

This time the German campaigners played with right fortitude and attitude to save their honour. They gained an early advantage by claiming a few back-to-back points and then capitalised this lead to finish the first half with a mountainous figure of 11.

Later part of the game was also dominated by Michael-Birgit who survived this crucial set with 21-17 score on the board.

Third set became consequential as both teams were standing equal with one win each. They put all of their brilliance in the game to cast out the opponent.

They remained close until 13-13 but then the Dutch players made difference by showing elevated craft.

Mads Pieler and Kamilla Rytter registered an overwhelming margin of 21-17 and qualified for the pre quarter-finals where they will lock horns with Tontowi Ahmad-Liliyana Natsir of Indonesia.
