2012 Danish Junior Cup: Kasper Antonsen, Amanda Madsen claim Mixed Doubles crown

Mixed Doubles experts Kasper Antonsen and Amanda Madsen relished full benefits of the home ground and became Danish Junior Cup champions on Sunday, October 14, 2012.

They stamped Tom Wolfenden-Holly Smith of England in their way to glory and registered their presence in the arena.

This 62-minute grand finale was played in Gentofte, Denmark and both teams played their heart out while piling up the decisive figures 21-19, 18-21 and 21-17.

The Danish pair prevailed in the opening and ending segments of the showdown whereas the British campaigners could live up to the billing only in the second set.

Kasper and Amanda set the foundation of their supremacy straight away in the first set as they bagged this valuable match point with distinction.

They made their intentions straight by prevailing in couple of successive rallies in the beginning and then kept on moving forward at a steady pace.

They mingled their power packed smashes with well crafted drop net shots and confounded the opposing shuttlers by controlling the bird.

Though, Tom and Holly strived hard to catch their rivals but even their honest effort could not stop them falling with a 19-21 score on the board.

However, the British shuttlers did not remain at lower end permanently and managed to rise from the dust in the following set.

This time Tom and Holly trod carefully in the beginning and remained close to their competitors until half time.

They geared themselves up after the one-minute interval and established a decent lead in third quarter of the set. They showed superb coordination in next couple of rallies and strengthened their grip over game with few uninterrupted points.

The concluding figures of 21-18 took them into third set which turned into survival of the fittest war with this revised score position.

Both teams played impeccable badminton in the decider and made the crowd gasp with their mesmerising performance.

They stood toe-to-toe in most part of the game as the match kept swinging between them until last shot was played.

Finally, Kasper and Amanda struck hard when it mattered and seized the honour with a favourable margin of 21-17.
